I have several cameras, mainly SLR's. They are heavy and large. I wanted a camera with lots of goodies that's easy to carry. Must deliver excellent picture quality, with a long zoom. This camera has all that. The only thing that maybe better would be a RAW file capability. But I guess you can't have it all. The only con would be the movie button is a little to easy to trip while shooting regular photos. This size is great, picture quality is outstanding. The price is right!

This product is flawed- Very hard to read, smallish print ID on various function controls ( Gold lettering in Red Version, and white in Black version..) At full 40x magnification , camera is very skittish.. Many screens available , offering much useless info which complicates usage , especially if a Pho0to op is brief ....clarity , IS NOT ALWAYS 100%.. NO DATE on corner face of photo possible--Most previous Canon Power shot cameras had that feature..At almost $400 , better P and S camera's are available-- but with less than 40X magnification, zoom lens.... 20X is more practical as a well composed shot can be OPTAINED EASIER and faster..It is pocketable, and well made, thou the pop up flash looks very fragile and the flash ,whites out if too close , and does not work to light up a subject past 6 or 7 feet-- Would not buy againRead full review

Great camera with a lot of options. Very good quality in low light places, just needs manual adjustment. Powerful zoom. It's a great camera. I took one star off for the battery life indicator. It goes from showing full to low battery in no time. I took a lot of pictures on one battery, but I was able to take just 6-7 photos (without zoom or flash) after a camera showed 3/4 battery , and the battery died. I recommend having a spare battery.

Takes very good image quality that is far better than most cell phone. It does not quite match quality of the pricier DSLR camera but for under $500 and small size, this is probably the best non-DSLR camera you can get. The impressive 40x zoom lens compares to a 500mm lens on a 35mm camera and I can pick detail from object over 100 feet (30 meter) away. Most camera doesn't go this far without using ugly "digital zoom". It mas multiple settings from easy to use auto to manual mode and more so it is good for wide variety of users from new and inexperienced to most professional. The available settings included Tv (manual time exposure), Av (manual aperture setting), Program, video, burst (multiple rapid shots), and Takes a standard SD card and will work with SDXC. I have a 64GB SDXC and at high resolution and quality setting, it is over 10,000 shots total. UHS-1 is required for 1080 video recording. Mine shows the camera can do a bit over 330 minutes (5 and 1/2 hours) of continuous recording on a single 64GB card A couple cons: one it is fairly heavy with battery, a little over a pound (half Kg), more than most small digital camera. Also the flash is not automatic, you have to press a button to pop up the flash bulb. If you attempt to take picture and it is dark, it will make noise to warn you flash is needed.Read full review

I like this camera for its compactness, as I can just slip into my purse or pocket. It's much easier then lugging my big SLR camera around. Great zooming features. I gave only four stars because it doesn't capture sports/moving shots the best, but otherwise it's pretty good for everything else. I really like how it captures great pictures in low light situations.
